BFGCF GIVING FAQ

What options do I have for giving to BFGCF?

There are a number of ways our supports have given to support the Foundation over the years.

  • Donations - Accepted at any time throughout the year!

  • Event Sponsorships - Available during our two primary fundraising events, the Community Cup Golf Invitational and the Champion in Life Celebration.

  • Planned Giving - Our most loyal supporters often choose a legacy of giving by including BFGCF in their will. By doing so, they become members of The Perseverando Society. Additional FAQ are listed below to provide greater detail.

  • Recurring Gifts - These dedicated individuals and businesses choose the frequency and amount of their gifts, which are generally automatically debited from an account they select. Recurring gift givers are also recognized as members of The Perseverando Society.

  • Memorial or Tributary Gifts - Recognizing a loved one is a great way to preserve their memory and can be done through your donations, planned giving, or recurring gifts.

  • Feed the Front Lines - From 2020 to 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, BFGCF joined forces with five local restaurants in order to deliver meals to those frontline workers who were risking their lives to keep Maryland communities safe during this challenging time. We’re grateful for all who supported these efforts and welcome you to revisit some of the great frontline deliveries we were able to make.

Planned Giving FAQ

Can I add BFGCF to my existing will?

Absolutely. You can add a codicil for any minor changes to your Will, including the addition of planned giving to a charity. When you speak to your lawyer they will advise you if a codicil is the best option. If there are several changes to make it may be more appropriate to rewrite your Will.

How much does a gift have to be?

Every gift can make a positive difference in our community when you choose BFGCF for your planned gift. Gifts of all sizes are welcomed and what they achieve together makes them very important and appreciated.

Will my gift be taxed?

No. Gifts to charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax and this can be a way of reducing exposure of your estate to tax.

Can I specify how my gift is to be used?

Yes. To discuss your options, please email bfgcf@buildingforgod.org

I am an Executor of a estate that has left money to BFGCF in their will. Who should I contact?

How do I become a member of The Perseverando Society?

To become a member of The Perseverando Society, you can elect to recognize Building for God Community Foundation (BFGCF) in your legacy giving and/or choose to donate to our mission on any recurring basis, including through a recurring employee giving program at your place of work.

Who do I contact if I include BFGCF in my legacy giving?

Please use the Foundation’s main email to tell us of your gift. bfgcf@buildingforgod.org

Can I be a part of The Perseverando Society if I give a recurring gift to Feed the Front Lines or other targeted fundraising campaign or event?

No. While those donations are greatly appreciated, our fundraising efforts are separate from the planned giving and recurring gifts that are included in The Perseverando Society.
