Family Survivor Network supports the mental, emotional, and physical health of survivors of violence in Baltimore City through therapeutic alternative healing, clinical and nonclinical counseling, peer support groups, and community-centered services.
Mentoring Mentors promotes community interdependency and long-term relationships for urban African American adolescents by encouraging pro-social behaviors and empowering youth to reach their fullest potential while inspiring them to become successful and productive adults.
Touching Young Lives focuses on the health and well-being of infants and children by providing families and caregivers best practices in childcare, education, and resources across socio-economic lines, as well as a Portable Alternative Crib (P.A.C.), a safe sleeping solution with infant and baby supplies / necessities.
2020 Champion in Life Grant Award Winners
Baltimore Hunger Project is dedicated to eliminating the growing problem of weekend childhood hunger by feeding bodies and minds. They bridge the gap between Friday and Monday by providing weekend food packages to food insecure children.
Brown Memorial Tutoring Program provides disadvantaged, at-risk children in Baltimore City public schools with the opportunity to build their literacy skills, regain their confidence and succeed in school.
BFGCF’s Champion in Life Partners
Building for God Community Foundation (BFGCF) and Safe and Sound Schools are making a difference in our Maryland communities. Our partnership allows us to bring these national resources to our local families and school communities, and for Safe and Sound Schools to extend local work beyond our state. Safe and Sound Maryland has provided dedicated trainings, workshops, and education programs exclusively for Maryland school districts as part of the BFGCF partnership.
Building for God Community Foundation announced that it will be partnering with Safe Alternative Foundation for Education (SAFE) to create a new Workforce Development Center. Since 2012, SAFE has been assisting Baltimore City youth with academic resources and mentoring to expertly guide them through high school and beyond. The new Workforce Development Center will provide industry-relevant training and employment opportunities to SAFE students who wish to focus their career on a particular trade after high school.
